Hello all, I got Dell E, and i met with the same issue. If yes i would be very interested by the solution Thanks. Cephei78 , Feb 13, The fingerprint reader is connected and does respond, but the ControlPoint software throws an error if I try to enroll my fingerprint the error doesn't show up if I don't touch the sensor. Hi cucchuoi When you say you got it working, do you mean with the Embassy Wave software fingreprint Dell provides? It's a shame though, this notebook cost me 1. As you can see from the output of the command you ran, there is no mention of the fingerprint scanner. I created a bootable dos usb stick and did a few tests.

There are various security related packages under the ControlPoint downloads. However you can easily replace it, buy one from Dell, on ebay or anywhere, and just replace it requires to remove screws.

Yes me too, It would be great to get the fingerprint reader working, with one or two other issues sorted out, I could then proceed to get rid of vista all together. I have seen, somewhere in the net, a comparison photo of these two keyboards, but I can't find it right now.

Latitude E6500 - fingerprint reader problems

The problem before is that the Broadcom USH effectively hides the fingerprint reader from the system, thus severely restricting it's fingerprit unless the supplied software is used, which itself is pathetic.

Probably it doesn't work with fprint and ThinkFinger. I didn't have to do anything to get it to work.
