I just wanted to say that I used the above 4 links for OSX This may seem like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, but it has the added virtue that I can use my old PowerPC apps without having to reboot into Snow Leopard -: And now I switched to the canon mx I would suggest trying the SANE drives, but before doing that you should preferably uninstall any Silverfast drivers and software first. Can anyone verify that the native Mavericks drivers allow Photoshop to recognise the Canon scanners for which there are drivers including the two I have mentioned?

My printer also quit, so I followed the advice above and got a new Printer-Scanner-Fax. My original question should have noted that I have searched drivers supplied by Canon, Apple and VueScan. After installing VueScan, my scanner has stopped working.
